Lesser Known exploded on the music scene in 1991 with their self-titled debut. Within a year, they were playing to crowds of 300-400 fans and quickly recorded the follow up, What Is Life About? in 1992. Word of mouth spread about their vicious live shows as they constantly gigged the circuit from Michigan to Toronto Ontario. Bring An Open Mind was the first CD LP from the band, self-financed and recorded in 1994 at the world famous Metal Works Studio in Mississauga, Ontario. An indie video shot for the hypno-metal track Sweat On Command was broadcast on Canada’s Much Music television.

Lesser Known released the Inner Beast CD LP in 1998, featuring cover art by Marc Gabbana (Spawn, Star Wars: Phantom Menace), and hit the road from Detroit to Montreal to support the disc at retail. The CD went on to reach #10 on Loud Rock college radio charts across Canada in November that same year.
Lesser Known broke through in 2000, when the Higher Levels CD EP came out. It was featured on local commercial radio stations WRIF Detroit, CKUE Chatham, K106 Sarnia and hit the top 10 alt-metal charts at MP3.com with 20 000 downloads in four months. They took the advice of Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, Nazareth) who mastered Higher Levels, applied for P-2 Visas and constantly hit the U.S. market for gigs in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania. In 2000, Lesser Known also appeared on tributes to White Zombie, AC/DC and Suicidal Tendencies from Dwell records in Los Angeles.

Circle the Drain is a culmination of song writing, image and experience. Essentially, Lesser Known has captured lightning in a bottle on this new recording. With their endless self-promotion and roadwork, several interested parties in the industry contacted them in 2000 asking for new material. Lesser Known wrote and recorded Circle the Drain with one specific objective in mind; to showcase the undeniable potential and presence the band holds as a recording and live act.

What can be said about Lesser Known’s sound? Critics call it an “original brand of aggressive music” (Ill Literature), “clear, clean and vicious” (BW&BK), and “heavy as Hell!” (Scream). On Circle the Drain, the listener finds a mélange of cosmic, yet bulldozing guitar, a bone-crushing rhythm section, and melodic / aggressive vocals.
